The City of Wolverhampton Council Public Health and Wellbeing team is funding a project to carry out a comprehensive mental wellbeing needs assessment for adults in the city. This is because good mental health is fundamental to an individual’s ability to achieve their full potential and achieving a good quality of life, but our knowledge locally regarding mental wellbeing requires further attention.
We are not specifically looking at mental health services, but are focussing on prevention and early intervention and opportunities to promote good mental health amongst the general population. Many of the factors that underpin good mental wellbeing are linked to services that provide for basic needs for example housing, work, environment, or support people when they are in need. Many of the issues that put people at risk of poor mental health are linked to the major themes in the council and its partners, for example reducing social isolation, promoting employment opportunities, safer communities and healthy lifestyles.
As part of this project, we have commissioned Engaging Communities Staffordshire to undertake a series of interviews with key groups and stakeholders who work with people who may be at risk of poor mental wellbeing. We are sending you this email because we would like you to take part in this valuable research. Engaging Communities will be contacting you by telephone to arrange a 30 minute interview that can be conducted either face-to-face or via telephone depending on your preference.
These interviews are part of a wider piece of work and a briefing on this which provides more detail is attached.
I hope you will be willing to take part in this important project. If you are unavailable or would like to nominate a colleague, please let us know.
