Inclusion Coordinator

Salary: Up to £23,000 (dependent on experience)

 

We want to ensure that all young people across Wolverhampton can access and be supported by our work. We need an experienced and effective coordinator to help us realise this ambition.

 

The Role

The Inclusion Coordinator will lead the development and delivery of both our universal and targeted work so that The Way Youth Zone’s provision for young people is inclusive; supports community cohesion and provides an environment where members from diverse demographics, ethnic communities, and those with disabilities feel safe, involved and welcome. Managing people, resources, planning and delivery, the post holder will help us to ensure we provide an environment that is safe, inclusive, inspiring and supportive, one where we help young people to realise their potential and ambitions and help them make the very best of our opportunities regardless of their barriers.

 

The Person

With experience of working with young people with disabilities and other barriers to accessing services, you will have a good understanding of the issues and solutions to increasing access to traditionally marginalised groups. You will have a passion for supporting young people, which is underpinned by a professional qualification in youth work, health, social care or equivalent skills and competence.  With experience of programming a diverse range of activities for young people with participation challenges you will have good organisational and IT skills, be able to work under pressure, manage projects and people and confidently handle multiple priorities and demonstrate a high standard of personal effectiveness. You will also have a considered and decisive approach, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead and inspire your team and others across all areas of your work.

Youth Work Manager

Salary: Up to £35,000 (dependent on experience)

 

A unique opportunity for an experienced manager to lead on the youth work provision at The Way Youth Zone, a state-of-the-art building offering a wide range of activities and targeted services for young people.

 

The Role

The Youth Work Manager will lead a large team of staff and volunteers in delivering a vibrant, open-access Youth Zone for the young people of The Way, and also have responsibility for targeted projects to provide more focussed support for young people.  The post holder will be required to ensure the Youth Zone provides a safe, inclusive and positive environment and take a lead role in constantly evaluating and improving the offer to young people.

 

The Person

With substantial experience of youth work, you will have successfully led a team to deliver services, possibly in challenging circumstances, and have a passion for supporting young people, which is underpinned by a professional qualification in youth work or equivalent skills and competence.  With experience of programming a diverse range of activities for young people and good organisational and IT skills, you are able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.  You will also have a considered and decisive approach, strong interpersonal skills and a high standard of personal effectiveness.

Employability & Enterprise Worker

 

Salary:

 

Job Purpose: To develop and deliver a programme of activities within the Enterprise Zone that will raise young people’s aspirations and help them to acquire the skills, knowledge and confidence to be successful in the world of work and enterprise.

 

Context of the post: The Way Youth Zone opened in Wolverhampton in January 2016 and provides both universal and targeted opportunities for young people aged 8 to 19, and up to 25 for young people with additional needs. The Way Youth Zone is a registered charity and is supported through a unique partnership between the business community, the local authority, charitable funders and the wider community.  With over 4,400 members, we provide 20 activities each evening to over 1200 young people, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.  However we are more than just an activity centre. We provide young people with ‘somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to’. Our team of around 60 staff and over 130 volunteers provide a safe, supportive and inspiring space for young people to make the very best use of their leisure time and acquire the skills, knowledge and confidence to lead healthy and successful adult lives. We inspire young people to be ambitious, raise their aspirations and help our members to define and realise their goals.

Our service is located in an award winning iconic two-storey building which houses a dedicated sports hall, a climbing wall, gym, boxing ring, dance and performing arts studio, art room, media suite, kitchen, music spaces, cafe, social areas and an outdoor floodlit all-weather pitch.
