Wood Saints is a Community Enterprise set up to help the environment and create skills development, volunteering and employment opportunities for local people. By collecting, reusing and recycling waste timber from the building industry.

Recycling Business Manager will be responsible for the overall operation of the Business (Wood Saints), for achieving its financial targets, managing risk and reporting on performance to the Chief Executive and Board of ASAN Management Services

·     Developing strategic and operational links with the Building industry, customers, the local authority, JCP, College and Training Organisations and other organisations that may use the service.

·     Producing a business plan for approval by the CEO and Board

·     Setting sales targets, monitoring performance, establishing and managing financial procedures, marketing, management of production, the warehouse and associated areas

·     Line management of recycling service staff

·     Ensure that all activities are carried out according to policies and procedures, particularly in relation to Health, Safety and Environment legislation, employment legislation , financial regulations and equal opportunities

2. Job Description

 A hands-on Enterprise Manager is needed to manage all the day to day activities and drive business growth, including:

• Driving to building sites to collect “waste” timber

• Engaging, training, managing and motivating staff and volunteers

• Liaising with customers, suppliers and other partners

• Working to a budget and maintaining appropriate financial records

• Implementing the Wood Saints marketing strategy

• Ensuring that the enterprise provides a high standard of service to all its customers

• Ensuring Health and Safety standards are maintained

3. Person Specification

 The key qualities that will define an applicants’ suitability are high levels of motivation and initiative; excellent communication skills; sympathy and understanding towards people; the ability to lead from the front and carry out (in the short term) a good amount of manual labour.

Essential requirements:

•     Excellent communication, negotiation and business development skills

     Financial awareness and familiarity with accountancy and financial regulations

     Good leadership skills

·     Training and work readiness experience

·     Managing health and safety systems and a good understanding of risk management

·     Experience of working with young people from diverse backgrounds

     High level of motivation and enthusiasm

     Track record of successful business development and growth

     Positive and caring attitude

     In good health and physically fit

•     IT skills – Microsoft Office

•     A full, clean UK driving licence

Desirable requirements:

     Some experience of the building trade

     Some experience with power tools

•     An interest in environmental and social issues

·     Knowledge of Wolverhampton and the Black Country

·     Competent with hand tools

 

 

Salary: £25,000 – 30,000 PA, depending on experience
Location: The Community Centre, All Saints Rd, Wolverhampton, WV2 1EL
