Mission Statement

To give power to your voice POhWER is one of the largest advocacy providers in the UK. Our clients include people from different cultures, people who may have disabilities or sensory impairments, are unwell, or may not communicate verbally. We recognise the inequalities that exist in society and we work to promote respect and dignity for all by enabling and support those who face discrimination and prejudice.

POhWER has worked in Wolverhampton since 2006. During this time we have supported many local residents to get their voice heard about their experiences using NHS services in Wolverhampton.

Beneficiaries: Everyone, Carers, Young People (aged 13-25 years), Families and lone parents, Homeless people, Looked After Children (e.g. in care, foster care), Older people, People with learning disabilities, People with mental health problems, People with physical and/or sensory disabilities, People with Religious or Philosophical Beliefs, Other,

Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA), including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and Relevant Person’s Paid Representative Services (RPPR) is a statutory advocacy service to support vulnerable people who lack capacity and need to make important decisions but have no representatives as defined under the Mental capacity Act 2005.

Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA). Anyone who is detained in a secure Mental Health setting in Wolverhampton is entitled to access support from an IMHA.
