The Fun Palaces Manifesto
We believe in the genius in everyone, in everyone an artist and everyone a scientist, and that creativity in community can change the world for the better.
We believe we can do this together, locally, with radical fun – and that anyone, anywhere, can make a Fun Palace.

Last year Newhampton Arts Centre hosted the first Wolverhampton Fun Palace. A wide range of organisations and volunteers took part and an equally wide range of visitors came along of all ages and all backgrounds. There was a fantastic atmosphere and everyone had a great time. We had art, music, paper aeroplanes, microscopes, rockets, dance, embroidery, history, cookery and cake. It was part of an ongoing national campaign for culture at the heart of community, with an annual national weekend of arts and science events created by, for and with local people.
We enjoyed it so much, we are doing it again.

Fun Palace Wolverhampton 2017 will take place on Sunday 8th October from 12pm-5pm at Newhampton Arts Centre.

It is a free event run by the community for people in the community of all ages. There is no central funding but we are hoping to get some local funding to support marketing and basic running expenses.

The event centres round our large Gallery Hall with tables/spaces for activities, with some taking place in studios off the hall, with a stage and gallery for pop-up performances, and additional theatre space for drop-in dance, singing or anything that requires a large space, plus outdoor space if weather permits. We will try and fit it in, whatever it is.

If you would like to get involved as an individual or an organisation, running an activity or helping as a volunteer, get in touch or come along to one of our open meetings on Wed 6th September at 6pm and Thursday 7th Sep at 2pm.

If you can’t make it, give a ring and have a chat about your idea. We are all making this up as we go along so everyone’s ideas are welcome!
