Wolverhampton Domestic Violence Forum, Wolverhampton Police Force and the Universities of Birmingham and Aston are working together on a project to improve services for survivors of domestic abuse.

We have interviewed survivors of domestic abuse, members of the Police, and people from support organisations. We have been learning about their experiences of receiving or providing services.

From this information, we have identified ‘keypoints’ – aspects of processes or systems which make an important difference to people’s experience of that process or system. We are now bringing together members from each of the 3 stakeholder groups to discuss these keypoints and to help us to prioritise them.

We are holding a series of feedback groups on Tuesday 21st November 2017 at Wolverhampton Voluntary Sector Council (Temple Street, WV2 4AN).

We are running groups for survivors of domestic abuse and for providers of support services such as: volunteers at charities, independent domestic violence advisors (IDVAs), managers of third sector support services, staff at refuges, members of the Domestic Violence Forum – anyone who provides support services to survivors of domestic abuse.

The groups will last 60-90 minutes and refreshments will be provided. In the session we will describe the keypoints, providing illustrative materials and quotes from the interviews, and then facilitate the group in discussion to think about the keypoints from their perspective and to identify priority areas for action.

We will then take the keypoints prioritised at these groups to an event on 15th December where we will bring together representatives from the three stakeholder groups. At this event, representatives will work together, developing plans to address these issues, with the ultimate aim of improving service provision to those experiencing domestic abuse.

We hope that you can join us on 21st November, we would really value your expertise and input.

Please can you let Gemma Unwin know if you are interested in attending by emailing SXG589@student.bham.ac.uk or by texting your name, number and email to: 07398 459 134. We will then get in touch with further details.
