Come and enjoy food and fun at an informal gathering to find out more about how you could bring your neighbours together over a Big Lunch in Wolverhampton in June.

The Big Lunch is the UK’s annual get together for neighbours. Every year in June since the idea began in 2009, millions of people stop what they’re doing and get together with neighbours in a nationwide act of community and friendship. This year’s Big Lunch will be happening on 3 June. Last year a whopping 9.3 million people took part in the Big Lunch celebrating their communities with street parties and picnics, bunting and balloons, and of course a few tasty treats. We hope 2018 will be the biggest and best Big Lunch year yet and it would be great if there were lots in Wolverhampton!

This event is for you if you’d like to find out more and get a bit of help and encouragement. Come along to this ‘Bringing the Big Lunch to Wolverhampton’ supporting, sharing and encouraging drop-in. If you are already experienced in organising or joining-in a Big Lunch, you are very welcome to this event. It would be great for those who haven’t run one before to hear your experiences.
Food will be provided by Wolverhampton Real Junk Food Project pop-up Cafe and an Eden Project Communities network co-ordinator will be on hand to provide information and giving out Big Lunch packs for you to take away with you.

The Real Junk Food Project:
The RJFP is a global, organic network of Pay As You Feel concepts. We divert surplus edible food destined for waste and make it accessible for human consumption. The Love and Peas cafe within Gatis Community Space run regular RJFP pop-up cafes.

Eden Project Communities:
Eden Project Communities aims to improve the happiness and wellbeing of people across the UK by helping to build more resilient and better connected communities.

Staff from WVSC and City of Wolverhampton Council will be on hand should you need to ask any questions about closing your street, risk assessments or other issues.

If you are all set to go, you can get Big Lunch resources and information from the Eden Project Communities website. So get involved by signing up for your free Big Lunch pack. The recipe for a Big Lunch is simple: good food, good company and good fun, and the pack is full of resources and advice to help you get started.
